Man. United’s only hope Vs. Chelsea
How does a team that struggled to beat Everton at home (2-1) drew Vs. West Brom etc beat at home, a defensively resolute team in Chelsea, that offensively “slaughtered Maribor 6-0 at the mid week champions league encounter, beat Crystal Palace (1-2) and are unbeaten this season in the English Premier league?
If you ask me ,though it is possible, I feel it will be an uphill task !
Manchester United host league leaders Chelsea and I cannot remember at one point in my lifetime where they looked so much like the obvious losers as now!
We would not delve into why this is so ,which I know you all know that it is all related to the difficult transitional period that Man. united are facing post Sir Alex Ferguson
How Can Man . United beat This Chelsea?
Louis Van Gaal used to be the teacher of his erstwhile translator at Barcelona and today’s rival, Jose Mourinho, but if we judge their careers as coaches ,Mourinho has achieved more and is more like the boss today.
Manchester United has struggled defensively but it’s offensive capabilities in Wayne Rooney,Angel Di Maria,Falcao,Van Persie and ex Chelsea Mata, is more than impressive.
Its midfield is average if not lightweight in my view and defensively as a unit and generally, is its weakest link thanks to its incredible lack of reinforcements after the exits of Rio Ferdinand,Vidic and Patrice Evra.
The situation of Man. united is the complete opposite of Chelsea who are solid in all departments and where they might seem at par or slightly inferior “on Paper” is the names of the pure strikers they possess!
Man. United in some way have to find or create a situation that in 90 minutes will mask these defensive and midfield frailties and put their attacking force more on show. This is only possible if they up their physical investment and pressurize Chelsea in mid and defensive areas when not in possession.
Starting with the complete line up of their above stated striking force will spell disaster for Man, U as these are players that defensively will not cope with Chelsea!
Though playing at home I fear Man. U have no choice but to sacrifice their attacking third a bit to Chelsea most of the game and counter play, remember,Chelsea will be compact and merciless!
I really do feel for Van Gaal though he seems responsible in some way for the situation he finds himself now, but unless Chelsea play below par from what we have become used to seeing them do lately, the best he can hope for could be a draw!
This game is Chelsea’s to lose but in football you never know. Off I go to prepare for the game, join me!
